Reaping the Harvest

One thing that we have marveled at here in Colombia is the amazing weather. It averages around 70-80 degrees all year round. Being from Idaho this has been a bit of an adjustment for us. We remember how all of the corn, wheat, onion and beet fields looked, especially when it was time for harvest. January and February were definitely not part of that time. While things have been cold and frozen back home, down here we have been reaping souls. After a time of plowing and preparing the dark Colombian soil she has started to give us a bountiful harvest.

We started our King’s Kids ministry about one month ago and things got off to a great start. Our first night we had more children than the adults had in the regular service. The kids have been coming very faithfully and are learning lots of Scripture. One of our goals has been to use this ministry not only as a means to reach children for Christ but also as a platform to reach families. One young boy started coming to the club and soon after his father came with him. Recently, we had a meeting with this man and his wife in their home to present the Gospel to them. Towards the end, his wife said, “I want to give all of myself to Jesus Christ.” They both bowed their heads to receive Jesus shortly after. Pray that we can continue to reach families as a result of reaching children through this ministry.

We have been teaching an evangelism class for the past month and things are going fantastic. Many have been impressed with the great responsibility a Christian has to share Christ. As a result, on our regular door to door visitation in the past two months we have seen seven adults make first time professions of faith to receive Christ as Savior. Praise the Lord! Like the ol’ saying goes, “Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.” We are training fisherman down here and reaping God’s harvest.
