Jesus Christ

The only true friend of sinners.
Whether it is a life of piety or a life of self-indulgence, we all subject our lives to something. A person may spend their every waking hour praying for others or doing religious services and sacraments, trying his absolute best to be the kind of person that would be acceptable in God’s eyes. In contrast, a person may take every opportunity to lavish upon himself pleasures, material goods, and anything else that may temporarily satisfy his natural appetites. In the end though, none of this will satisfy. Yet, we tell ourselves that peace will come if we just do more. If you find yourself caught in this cycle you must realize that you are “Captured” by sin. The word pictures several things: danger, helplessness, fear, torture, and death. These are all true. In fact, the Bible speaks clearly of our situation.

The Bible says that because of your sin, you are in danger and captivity.

…verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity… ~Psalm 39:5
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God… ~Romans 3:23
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation… ~Hebrews 2:3
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. ~Proverbs 14:12

Your natural condition is sinful. Whether or not you appear righteous in your own eyes is not important to God. The reality is, you are held captive by your sin. Because of God’s perfect holiness, He must punish all sin.

The place where this punishment happens is called Hell.

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. ~Isaiah 14:15
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ~Revelation 20:14
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. ~Luke 13:3

In order to escape from this horrible punishment in hell, you need to be pardoned for your sin. This comes through asking God for forgiveness of your sins. God’s Word is clear that if you ask for forgiveness, He will give it.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me… ~Psalms 66:18
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. ~Proverbs 28:13
…and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. ~John 6:37

This freedom and forgiveness had to be paid for. This was done when God sent His only begotten son to earth to die a sacrificial death in our place. His name was Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross, was buried in a grave, and rose three days later, the price of freedom was paid completely. Jesus Christ holds the keys to eternal life in heaven or eternal death in hell. The only thing left for us to do, is accept God’s pardon through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Jesus Christ holds the keys to eternal life in heaven or eternal death in hell

…Jesus…said, It is finished… ~John 19:30
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. ~I Peter 2:24
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~John 3:16
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. ~John 20:31

I hope you will take this wonderful opportunity and trust the one who so selflessly gave his life for yours. He will save you. Will you trust him today as your saviour. He is waiting to set you free.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Savior right now, please use the following prayer as a guide and speak to God directly at this moment:

Lord Jesus, I realize that I have broken your law and am sinful in your sight. I no longer wish to live in my sin, I want to turn from it and serve you with my life. I believe that you came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose from the grave. I know that you did all that because you love me and want to make me righteous in God’s sight. Please come into my heart right now and save me. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.
